Paper Loading(ASF) / Paper Feeding(PF) / Paper Ejection(EJ) Mechanism

Overview

This product has the paper transport path on the right side of the product. Since the paper jam can be cleared on the right side of the product, the installation space on the left side of the product can be minimized. In the standard model, cassettes C1/C2 and Paper trays are available for paper supply port, and the paper feed port can be expanded by installing the optional additional cassette (C3/C4) and High capacity unit. In the standard model, face-down tray is available for paper ejection port, and the paper eject port can be expanded by installing the optional Inner tray, Floor finisher and Inner finisher.

The following describes the details of the three mechanisms of Paper loading (ASF), Paper feeding (PF), and Paper Ejection (EJ).

Main Components (ASF)

This mechanism enables paper to be fed, and loads and feeds the paper to the paper feeding mechanism.

A Cassette Unit

Makes the paper set inside the cassette ready for loading. Paper size is automatically detected by aligning the edge guide with the size of the set paper.
By driving the Lift up motor, the Hopper inside the unit is raised, and the paper and the pickup roller are brought into contact with each other to prepare for paper feeding.

B Right Door Unit (Paper Tray)

The Paper tray can feed thick paper such as special paper (envelopes, postcards, etc.) that cannot be fed from the cassette. Two types of rollers and paper size detection sensors are installed inside the unit to prepare for paper feeding.

C Pickup Unit

Three types of rollers (pickup/separating/retarding) inside the unit feed each sheet of paper in the cassette and transport it to the paper path. Also, the presence or absence of paper in the cassette is detected by a sensor.

D PW Sensor Unit Two sensors inside the unit detect the width of the paper being transported. If a paper size different from the setting is detected, paper feed is stopped.
E Registration Unit

Corrects skew of the fed paper. The pre-printing sensor in the unit detects the edge of the paper and controls the ink ejection timing.

Main Components (PF)

This structure is a mechanism for feeding paper during printing.

A Anti Static Brush Unit

Perform static elimination and paper dust removal before feeding the paper to the belt unit. It also has sensors related to print control (Pre-printing sensor/Pre-head paper sensor).
The cleaning mechanism inside the unit periodically cleans the Anti static brush unit and the pre-printing sensor, to which paper dust easily adheres.

B Belt Unit

The unit located below the nozzle surface of the head unit that transports paper during printing.
By charging the surface of the belt unit with an electric charge by the charging roller inside the unit, the paper is attracted and the paper is transported stably. If the belt surface becomes dirty due to a paper jam, the cleaner cloth built into the unit automatically cleans it. The cleaning time varies according to the print duty when paper jam occurs.
It is also equipped with a mechanism for cleaning paper dust adhering to the belt surface. Paper dust is stored in a detachable collection box, preventing paper dust from accumulating inside the machine.

Main Components (EJ)

This structure is a mechanism for ejecting paper during printing.

A D3 Unit

Paper path component that feeds printed paper to the paper ejection port.

B Right Door Unit (Duplex path)

In addition to the paper feed function with the Paper tray, it also feed paper during duplex printing.

C Stacker Unit Stocks the paper ejected to the Face-down output tray. The trough shape suppresses paper curl and maintains paper alignment.

Paper Feed Path

Paper path for single sided printing

Paper fed from the cassette or Paper tray is transported as follows.

Paper feed path when duplex printing

A sheet printed on single side is conveyed to a duplex path. The paper is switched back in the duplex path, and the printed surface is reversed. After that, the sheet is transported to the paper path again and duplex printing is performed.
