Troubleshooting
| Step | Confirmation and action | YES | NO |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Check paper transport path Is there any foreign matter, paper chips, etc. in the paper transport path? |
Remove any foreign objects or pieces of paper | Go to step 2 |
| 2 | Check the paper feed rollers/sensors for dirt and installation Are the rollers listed in the “Assumed cause” section clean and installed properly? |
Go to step 3 | Clean and reinstall the paper feed rollers. |
| 3 | Check the paper feed rollers for deformation and wear Are the rollers listed in the “Related parts” section deformed or worn? |
Replace the worn out or deformed roller | Go to step 4 |
| 4 | Check the Torque Limiter Can you rotate the Retard Roller by hand? |
Go to step 5 | Replace the retard torque limiter. |
| 5 | Check operation of the Paper Feed Sensor of the cassette Check operation of the Paper Feed Sensor of the cassette with the diagnostic function. Does the signal change between when the paper is placed and when it is not? |
Go to step 7 | Go to step 6 |
| 6 | Check the Paper Feed Sensor of the cassette for installation, dirt, and connection Is the sensor of the target cassette installed improperly? Is there dirt on the sensor? Is the connector not fully inserted? Are the connectors for the cassette pickup unit not fully inserted? |
Clean the sensor surface, reinstall the sensor, or fully insert the connector. | Replace the sensor. |
| 7 | Check the operation of the Pre-Registration Sensor Check the operation of the Pre-Registration Sensor with the diagnostic function. Does the signal change between when the paper is placed and when it is not? |
Go to step 9 | Go to step 8 |
| 8 | Check the Pre-Registration Sensor for installation, dirt, and connector connection Is the Registration Sensor installed improperly? Is there dirt on the sensor? Is the connector not fully inserted? |
Clean the sensor surface, reinstall the sensor, or fully insert the connector. | Replace the sensor. |
| 9 | Check the clutch installation Are the target Cassette Paper Feed Clutch, all upstream Cassette Paper Feed Clutches, Feed 1 Clutch and Feed 2 Clutch installed properly? |
Go to step 10 | Reinstall it properly. |
| 10 | Check each Cassette Paper Feed Clutch Check the clutch operation with the diagnostic function. Does it make an operating sound (clutch connection sound)? |
Go to step 11 | Go to step 12 |
| 11 | Check the Feed 1 Clutch and Feed 2 Clutch Check the clutch operation with the diagnostic function. Does it make an operating sound (clutch connection sound)? |
Go to step 13 | Go to step 12 |
| 12 | Check the malfunctioning clutch for connection Are any of the connectors connecting the clutch not fully inserted? |
Fully insert the connectors | Replace the parts one by one.
|
| 13 | Check operation of the main unit motor Check the operation of the corresponding Main Unit Motor with the diagnostic function. Is there any abnormal noise? |
