ADF mechanism overview
The ADF unit of this product supports up to A3/Ledger size, and the CIS method using a color CIS module is adopted for document reading.
The document size is detected by the document width sensor and the document length sensor of the document support.
In addition, both sides of the document can be read using the color CIS modules installed in the ADF mechanism and SCN mechanism.
ADF Paper Loading / Paper Feeding Operation
Documents loaded on the Document Support is released from the Set Guide by the drive force of the ADF motor, and then fed into the paper feed mechanism by the Roller (Pickup/ Retard/ Separation), and the Acceleration Roller.
The retard separation method is used for paper separation, and each document is separated by the ADF Retard Roller. To support document feeding up to A3/Ledger, four sensors(Document Width Sensor, ADF (x2)/ Document Length Sensor, ADF (x2)) are mounted in the Document Support for document size detection.
The paper is loaded/fed while stopping the Registration Roller. These status is kept for a certain period of time after the paper reaches the Registration Roller to bend the paper during the skew correction.

The document size is detected by the document edge detection function of the SCN CIS module and the SCN document length sensor.
