Occurrence condition
  • The Pre-Registration Paper Sensor does not detect the paper after the specified time has elapsed since the target Pickup Clutch is activated
Assumed cause
  • Foreign objects or pieces of paper in the paper transport path
  • The paper feed rollers are worn out, deformed, have fallen off, or have a dirty surface
  • Malfunction of the retard torque limiter of the Pickup Unit.
  • The Paper Feed Sensor has a dirty surface, has fallen off, or is faulty
  • The Pre-Registration Sensor has a dirty surface, has fallen off, or is faulty
  • The Pickup Clutch has fallen off or is faulty.
  • Paper PF clutch 1 or PF clutch 2 has fallen off or failed
  • Failure of the main unit motor that drives the paper feed mechanism
  • the MCU board failure

Check the operation of the cassette paper feed sensor for the paper feed target with the diagnostic function

Does the signal change between when the paper is placed and when it is not?

Check the Paper Feed Sensor of the cassette for installation, dirt, and connection

Is there a problem with the installation of the cassette paper feed sensor for the paper feed target? Is there dirt on the sensor? Is the connector not fully inserted?

Is the connector of the paper feed unit of the paper feed target cassette half-inserted?

Clean the sensor surface, or fully insert the connector. Replace the sensor

Check the operation of the Pre-Registration Sensor

Check the operation of the Pre-Registration Sensor with the diagnostic function.

Does the signal change between when the paper is placed and when it is not?

Check the Pre-Registration Sensor for installation, dirt, and connector connection

Is the Registration Sensor installed improperly? Is there dirt on the sensor? Is the connector not fully inserted?


Clean the sensor surface, or fully insert the connector. Replace the sensor

Check the clutch installation

Are the feed target paper feed clutch and all the paper transport clutches upstream from the feed target cassette, and the feed 1 and feed 2 clutches installed properly?

Reinstall it properly.

Check the clutch operation with the diagnostic function.

Does it make an operating sound (clutch connection sound)?

Check the malfunctioning clutch for connection

Fully insert the connectors
