Troubleshooting
| Step | Confirmation and action | YES | NO |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Check the paper feed path At this time, check that the paper is not caught between the High Capacity Unit and the Main Unit. |
Remove any foreign objects or pieces of paper | Go to step 2 |
| 2 | Check the paper feed rollers/sensors for dirt and installation Are the rollers listed in the “Assumed cause” section clean and installed properly? |
Go to step 3 | Clean and reinstall the paper feed rollers. |
| 3 | Check the paper feed rollers for deformation and wear Are the rollers listed in the “Related parts” section deformed or worn? |
Replace the worn out or deformed roller | Go to step 4 |
| 4 | Check the Torque Limiter Can you rotate the Retard Roller (High Capacity Pickup Unit) by hand? |
Go to step 5 | Replace the retard torque limiter. |
| 5 | Check operation of the C1 Paper Feed Sensor Check operation of the C1 Paper Feed Sensor with the diagnostic function. Does the signal change between when the paper is placed and when it is not? |
Go to step 7 | Go to step 6 |
| 6 | Check the C1 Paper Feed Sensor for installation, dirt, and connection Is the C1 Paper Feed Sensor installed improperly? Is there dirt on the sensor? Is the connector not fully inserted? Are the connectors for the C1 Cassette Pickup Unit not fully inserted? |
Clean the sensor surface, or fully insert the connector. | Replace the sensor |
| 7 | Check the operation of the Pre-Registration Sensor Check the operation of the Pre-Registration Sensor with the diagnostic function. Does the signal change between when the paper is placed and when it is not? |
Go to step 9 | Go to step 8 |
| 8 | Check the Pre-Registration Sensor for installation, dirt, and connector connection Is the Registration Sensor installed improperly? Is there dirt on the sensor? Is the connector not fully inserted? |
Clean the sensor surface, or fully insert the connector. | Replace the sensor |
| 9 | Check the clutch installation Are the Pickup Clutch (High Capacity Unit), C1 Paper Feed Clutch, Feed 1 Clutch and Feed 2 Clutch installed properly? |
Go to step 10 | Reinstall it properly. |
| 10 | Check the Pickup Clutch (High Capacity Unit) Check the clutch operation with the diagnostic function. Does it make an operating sound (clutch connection sound)? |
Go to step 11 | Go to step 12 |
| 11 | Check the C1 Paper Feed Clutch, Feed 1 Clutch and Feed 2 Clutch Check the clutch operation with the diagnostic function. Does it make an operating sound (clutch connection sound)? |
Go to step 13 | Go to step 12 |
| 12 | Check the malfunctioning clutch for connection Are any of the connectors connecting the clutch not fully inserted? |
Fully insert the connectors | Replace the parts one by one.
|
| 13 | Check the operation of the Drive Motor Check the operation of the corresponding Main Unit Motor and Paper Feed Motor (High Capacity Unit) with the diagnostic function. Is there any abnormal noise? |
Replace the gear trains, Main Unit Motor and Paper Feed Motor (High Capacity Unit). | Replace the mechanical control board and High Capacity Unit. |
