Precautions before Repair Work

Precautions for repairing this product are described below. Make sure to read and thoroughly understand them before starting work.

  • Before/after replacement, some of the parts need preparation; such as ink ejection or shifting the states mechanically (capping, etc.) using the adjustment program, or require adjustment. Before starting work for the parts to be repaired, check whether any preparation or adjustment is needed referring to “preparation before repair”, “adjustment (printer/option)”, or “adjustment (SCN/ADF)”.
  • For the preparation before repair (print head/ink path), disassembly/reassembly with the power ON is required. Make sure to wear an anti-static wrist band and take extra care for safety such as preventing the power cable from being unplugged.
  • When disconnecting/reconnecting FFCs for repairing this product, use the new FFC included in the supplied ASP set to prevent failures due to deterioration (excluding the FFCs with connectors used for such as the Head FFC and the ADF FFC).
  • When removing the EJ Unit, the joint rail sticks out from the main unit. To prevent injury, set the Joint Rail into the main unit after removing the EJ Unit.
  • Discharge the electricity accumulated inside the main unit before disassembly.
    1. Turn the power off and disconnect the power cable from the printer.
    2. Press and hold the Power button.
    3. Make sure the Power LED has turned off.
  • When replacing parts, some of the parts require a detaching work of the Ink path. (Print head, Ink Supply Unit, etc.) To minimize the risk of ink leakage, use the built-in “Tube Clip” and the “Ink Leakage Prevention Cap” included in the ASP.
  • Before disconnecting/connecting the cables with a lock, make sure to unlock them. They are marked with pieces of yellow tape.
  • The ink cartridge are not compatible between AM-C6000 / 5000 / 4000. When wrong insertion, the cartridge recognition error is displayed.
  • Make sure you update the firmware when replacing each boards of main unit and options, and make each board firmware is same level as other boards. ASP firmware may not be latest version.
