Paper Edge Misalignment (Misalignment of stairs states)


Assumed cause
  • When using the inner finisher, if the paddle pulls in too strongly, the paper will sag. Misalignment occurs when pushed lower sheet out in the ejection direction at the deflection returns.


    (This tends to occur during high-duty duplex printing due to the used to low stiffness of the paper.)

Check the condition of the paper loaded in the tray.

If the paper is wavy, curled, or otherwise in poor condition, replace it with paper taken out of a newly opened pack or stored in a humidity-controlled storage.

Change the pullback force adjustment gauge in the Optimize Finishing menu.

Optimize Finishing (User Mode > Main Unit Settings > Printer Settings > Optimize Finishing) settings

Set in a minus direction (pulling force: weaker) than the currently set value.

  • Conditions for this setting to be valid: Staple job and paper length less than or equal to Letter Vertical (LTR Vertical/A4 Vertical/B5 Vertical/16K Vertical)

  • Initial Setting
    • Change the Optimize Finishing Setting is OFF: “3”
    • Change the Optimize Finishing Setting is ON: “5”
