Additional Cassette Unit Initial Adjustment Procedure

Side Registration Adjustment
Note / 補足

The cassettes (C1) of the product main body are adjusted for side registration at the time of shipment from the factory, but since the additional cassette units (C2/C3/C4) are shipped separately, the side registration accuracy cannot be guaranteed.

Therefore, when installing a large-capacity paper supply unit, perform a side registration adjustment as initial adjustment.
important / 重要
  • Be sure to perform "hardware adjustment" for side registration adjustment.
  • If the side registration could not be adjusted by the hardware adjustment, or if the side registration is misaligned on the second sheet during the double-sided printing, perform an adjustment using the software.


Adjustment preparation

  1. Start the service support mode.
  2. Select [07 Installation Setting / Operation Check].
  3. Select [Additional Cassette] tab.
  4. Select [70201 Side Registration Adjustment].
  5. Press [Pattern Print].


  6. press each setting item button to make the print settings. the parameters that can be set are as follows.

    select "c3" or "c4" for the [paper feed tray] setting.[paper size] setting is optional.

  7. Press [Execution] to print the adjustment pattern.


Hardware adjustment procedure

  1. Scale the margin amount of # 1 and # 2 for adjustment pattern, and calculate the margin adjustment amount.

    Check Point / チェックポイント
    • Measure on the side with "Simplex side / surface" printed on it.
    • Standard value: The margin difference between the front and rear sides of the product is within 0.5mm.

    • The method for measuring the amount of blank space is as follows.
      • Distance from the paper edge to the "#1 mark"
      • Distance from the paper edge to the "#2 mark"
    • The formula and calculation example for the margin adjustment amount are as follows.
      • Margin difference between #1 and #2 (absolute value) ÷ 2
      • #1 (front side of the product): 4.0mm, #2 (rear side of the product): 8.0mm → (8.0 - 4.0) ÷ 2 = 2.0mm → Move the paper guide to the front side of the product 2.0mm.

  2. change the paper guide position for target paper feeder based on the margin difference.(Cassette paper guide position change procedure、Paper Tray paper guide position change procedure）。

  3. Output the adjustment pattern from the service support mode again, check the adjustment result.

    • If the result is not satisfactory, repeat the hardware adjustment.
    • If the problem does not improve or cannot be adjusted, please understand the important information at the beginning of this page and perform software adjustments.
Perform Software adjustment in the following procedure.

  1. Measure the margin amount of #1 and #2 on the adjustment pattern.

    Check Point / チェックポイント
    • When measurements, be careful to the front and back sides of the adjustment pattern.
      • Single side (1st side):Measure on the side with "Simplex side / surface" printed on it.
      • Duplex sides (2nd side):For duplex (2nd side), use the printed with "Duplex side / rear side".
    • Standard value: The margin difference between the front and rear sides of the product is within 0.5mm.

    • The method for measuring the amount of blank space is as follows.

  2. Calculate the panel input value.

    Note / 補足
    • The calculation formula and example of the input value are as follows.
      • Input value = measurement value x 10
      • e.g.) Measurement value = 7.5mm, Input value = 75

  3. press each setting item button to make the print settings. the parameters that can be set are as follows.

    select "c3" or "c4" for the [paper feed tray] setting.[paper type] setting is optional.

  4. Press [#1] and enter the input value #1 calculated by step 2.
  5. Press [#2] and enter the input value #2 calculated by step 2.

  6. Press [OK] to reflect setting value.

    • If you press [OK] when all the values have not been entered, the following screen will be displayed.
    • If you press [Pattern Print] with all values entered, the adjustment values will be reflected. After the adjustment value is reflected, all the adjustment values input to the panel are cleared.Press [Close] to finish the adjustment.


      By execute printing as it is, output the adjustment pattern after reflecting the adjustment values.

    In the above-described procedure of the software adjustment, an adjustment for outputting an image to the center of the sheet is automatically performed by inputting a measured value of the margin amount to a panel as an input value.
    If you want to shift the image to any position (blue frame), determine the input value by referring to the following adjustment value specifications.

    Internal adjustment value = (input value #2-input value #1) / 2
    To shift the image 1 mm rightward from the current position (orange frame): Internal adjustment value = 10

    To shift the image 1 mm rightward from the current position (orange frame): Internal adjustment value =-10
