Print Quality Problems

Symptom Check patterns to be used

White lines (Colored lines) / Banding

  • White lines, colored lines, or banding run horizontal to the paper feed direction in printouts.
  • White lines at irregular intervals or at regular intervals (10 mm).

Dark lines/Banding

  • Dark lines run horizontal to the paper feed direction in printouts.
  • Dark lines at irregular intervals or at regular intervals (10 mm).

Ruled line misalignment or Character distortion

  • Ruled lines printed in the Y direction of paper look skewed or not aligned.
  • Characters are distorted.

Diagonal Unevenness

  • Diagonal shading occurs in the Y direction of the paper.
  • The location of occurrence differs for each factor.
20104 Black 25% Pattern

Ink smear 1 (smear on printed side)

  • Dirt has occurred only on the printing surface during single-sided printing.
20103 Gradation Pattern

Ink smear 2 (smear on back side)

  • When printing on single-side of paper, only the back side (opposite the printing side) is stained.
20106 Blank Paper Feed: 10 Sheet Simplex

Ink Smear 3 (roller mark smudges made by serrated roller and paper feed roller)

  • Solid or dotted lines appear at regular intervals in printouts.

Incorrect Colors

  • Color shift has occurred in part or the whole of the image.

Cockling

  • Streaks and ruled line shifts have occurred due to the waving of the paper.
  • The waving direction differs depending on the paper.

Incorrect print position

  • The print position is shifted from the center of the paper with respect to the transport direction or the Y direction.

Wrinkling of paper

  • The output paper has wrinkles (creases).

  • Blank printing has occurred for each head chip width.

  • The front edge of the paper is scratched.

Ink Dry Failure

  • Ink is not dry enough and gets dirty when touching paper.

Strike-through

  • When printing on both sides, the printing result on the front side is seen through.

  • Light color in head chip width units. Or different colors.
