Error code
  • 100054 Paper jam error
Occurrence condition
  • The motor was driven for a predetermined amount from the start of paper feeding, but the sensor could not detect the presence or absence of paper.
  • Paper length is too short.
  • The ADF Unit was opened while scanning with the ADF.
  • The ADF Cover was opened while scanning with the ADF.
Assumed cause
  • Poor paper feeding (NF, MF, paper jam), too many documents, use of non-guaranteed paper, sensor failure
  • Pieces of paper is left inside the machine.
  • The ADF Unit was opened while scanning with the ADF.
  • The ADF Cover was opened while scanning with the ADF.

Check the ADF paper transport path

Check if there are any pieces of paper left in the ADF paper transport path.

  • Open the ADF Cover and check the paper transport path.
  • Open the ADF and check the paper transport path.
  • Open the Document Support and check the paper ejection port.


Remove any remaining pieces of paper.
Does the error still occur?

Check the sensors in the ADF for damage or improper installation
Check to see if the sensors inside the ADF are damaged or improperly installed.

Go to step 3 End

Attach sensor and check connector connection

Check that there is no abnormality in the sensor installation, and that the sensor harness and FFC are properly inserted and connected to the connectors.

Reinstall the sensor, or reconnect the FFC.

Go to step 4 End

Replace the other parts or components

  • Replace the following parts in sequence and check whether the symptom recurs after each replacement.
    (1) FFC, (2) Sensor, (3) ADF Board
    Does the error still occur?
