  • 16 PW Sensor Unreached Paper Jam (C1)
Occurrence condition
  • The PW Sensor does not turn on after the specified time has elapsed since the target Pickup Clutch is activated
Assumed cause
  • Foreign objects or pieces of paper in the paper transport path
  • The paper feed rollers are worn out, deformed, have fallen off, or have a dirty surface
  • Malfunction of the retard torque limiter of the Pickup Unit.
  • PW Sensor has a dirty surface, has fallen off, or is faulty
  • The cassette pickup clutch has fallen off, or is faulty
  • All Drive Motor failure
  • MCU board failure

Is there any foreign matter, paper chips, etc. in the paper transport path?

Remove foreign matter, paper fragments, etc.

Check the paper transport roller sensor for dirt and installation

Are the roller and sensor specified in the part to be checked installed properly? Make sure no dirt remains on the surfaces.

Check the deformation and wear of the paper transport roller

Are the rollers listed on the suspected part deformed or worn?

Check the Torque Limiter

Can you rotate the Retard Roller by hand?

Check the operation of the target cassette pickup unit sensor 

Check the operation of the cassette pickup unit for paper feed with the diagnostic function

Judgment: Does the Hopper Plate rise when the cassette is inserted and paper is placed on, and does the signal change when paper is not placed?

Check the connection of the connectors for the cassette pickup unit

Are the connectors for the cassette pickup unit not fully inserted?

Properly install the sensor surface, or fully insert the connector. Replace the Pickup Unit

Check the operation of the RW Pre-Registration Sensor

Check the operation of the RW Pre-Registration Sensor with the diagnostic function.

Judgment: Does the signal change between when the paper is placed and when it is not?

Check the PW Sensor for installation, dirt, and connector connection

Is the PW Registration Sensor installed improperly? Is there dirt on the sensor? Is the connector not fully inserted?

Clean the sensor surface, reinstall the sensor, or fully insert the connector. Replace the Sensor

Check the clutch installation

Is the cassette pickup clutch for paper feed installed properly?

Go to step 10

Reinstall it properly.

Check the clutch operation using the failure diagnostic function.

Does it make an operating sound (clutch connection sound)?

Check the clutch operation using the failure diagnostic function.

Check the malfunctioning clutch for connection
