60108 Side Registration Adjustment

Adjust the misalignment of the paper feeding position with respect to the head center position.

important / 重要
  • There are 2 ways to adjust the side register.
    • Hardware: Change the paper guide position of the paper feed device.
    • Software: Change the ink ejection position by software control.
  • If try to adjust the misalignment of paper feed position on one side (first side), we recommend performing only hardware adjustment.
    *Adjustment width for software adjustment is approximately 2 mm, so if perform software adjustment on one side (first side), the adjustment width is insufficient and may not be able to adjust both sides (second side).
  • If try to adjust the misalignment of paper feed position on both sides (second side), perform software adjustment (because there is no mechanism to physically change the paper position on the duplex path).
Adjustment preparation
  1. Start the service support mode.
  2. Select [06 Individual Adjustment].
  3. Select the [Main Unit・Additional Cassette] tab.
  4. Select [60108 Side Registration Adjustment].
  5. Press [Pattern Print].

  6. press each setting item button to make the print settings. the parameters that can be set are as follows.

    available paper sizes a4, letter

    match the paper feeder to be adjusted with the paper feed tray for pattern printing.

    e.g.) perform the Paper Tray’s side registration adjustment . → press [paper tray] and select [Paper Tray].
  7. Press [Execution] to print the pattern.
Hardware adjustment procedure

  1. Scale the margin amount of # 1 and # 2 for adjustment pattern, and calculate the margin adjustment amount.

    • Measure on the side with "Simplex side / surface" printed on it.
    • Standard value: The margin difference between the front and rear sides of the product is within 0.5mm.

    • The method for measuring the amount of blank space is as follows.
      • Distance from the paper edge to the "#1 mark"
      • Distance from the paper edge to the "#1 mark"
    • The formula and calculation example for the margin adjustment amount are as follows.
      • Margin difference between #1 and #2 (absolute value) ÷ 2
      • #1 (front side of the product): 4.0mm, #2 (rear side of the product): 8.0mm → (8.0 - 4.0) ÷ 2 = 2.0mm → Move the paper guide to the front side of the product 2.0mm.

  2. change the paper guide position of the target paper feed device based on the margin adjustment amount.

  3. Output the adjustment pattern from the service support mode again, check the adjustment result.

    • If the result is not satisfactory, repeat the hardware adjustment.
    • If the problem does not improve or cannot be adjusted, please understand the important information at the beginning of this page and perform software adjustments.
Perform Software adjustment in the following procedure.

  1. Measure the margin amount of #1 and #2 on the adjustment pattern.

    • When measurements, be careful to the front and back sides of the adjustment pattern.
      • Single side (1st side):Measure on the side with "Simplex side / surface" printed on it.
      • Duplex sides (2nd side):For duplex (2nd side), use the printed with "Duplex side / rear side".
    • Standard value: The margin difference between the front and rear sides of the product is within 0.5mm.

    • The method for measuring the amount of blank space is as follows.

      • Distance from the paper edge to the "#1 mark"



  2. Calculate the panel input value.

    Note / 補足
    • The calculation formula and example of the input value are as follows.
      • Input value = measurement value x 10
      • e.g.) Measurement value = 7.5mm, Input value = 75
  3. Press [Feed Tray] and select the feed tray to be adjusted.

  4. press [paper type] and select the paper type to be adjusted. the parameters that can be set are as follows.

  5. Press [#1] and enter the input value #1 calculated by step 2.
  6. Press [#2] and enter the input value #2 calculated by step 2.

  7. Press [OK] to reflect setting value.

    Check Point / チェックポイント
    • If you press [OK] when all the values have not been entered, the following screen will be displayed.
    • If you press [Pattern Print] with all values entered, the adjustment values will be reflected. After the adjustment value is reflected, all the adjustment values input to the panel are cleared. Press [Close] to finish the adjustment.


      By execute printing as it is, output the adjustment pattern after reflecting the adjustment values.

    In the above-described procedure of the software adjustment, an adjustment for outputting an image to the center of the sheet is automatically performed by inputting a measured value of the margin amount to a panel as an input value.
    If you want to shift the image to any position (blue frame), determine the input value by referring to the following adjustment value specifications.

    Internal adjustment value = (input value #2-input value #1) / 2
    To shift the image 1 mm upward (rear side of product) from the current position (orange frame): Internal adjustment value =-10

    To shift the image 1 mm downward (front side of product) from the current position (orange frame): Internal adjustment value =-10
