# ADF Document Retainer (Reference White Board)

The document retainer is provided for each of the ADF scanner glasses.
The retainer prevents distortion of scanned images caused by vibration of the printer during scanning.
The white color of the retainers is used as a standard for shading correction of the CIS. If the retainer surface is not clean, colors not faithful to the original or line of dots may appear in scanned images.
Moisten a cloth and wring the pure water out of it, then wipe the surface with the cloth.
