# Overview

The [password encryption] function is installed on this product to encrypt confidential information (all passwords, certificate private keys, and hard disk authentication keys) recorded on the printer's ROM Board or HDD. The encryption key for decrypting the encryption is stored on the TPM Board (Trusted Platform Module).

Since the TPM Board is not accessible from outside the printer, you can protect encrypted confidential information without sharing the encryption key.

Caution / 注意

If the TPM Board malfunctions with passwords in an encrypted state, it is necessary to use a backup of the encryption key to restore the encryption keys on the replaced TPM Board. Also, if you do not have a backup of the encryption keys, the printer must be initialized.
