Blank printout (blank paper ejected)

Symptom
  • Paper is discharged as blank.


Suspected cause
  • Paper (Used paper, heavy paper)
  • Print Settings
  • Network trouble
  • Dirt/wrong installation/wear or damage of the Pickup Roller Assy or Retard Roller
  • Ink system Assy failure
  • I/S failure (tube, pump, air release valve, ink end sensor)

  • Main Board failure
  • Head FFC failure
  • Print Head failure

Check the paper

Check whether or not using paper that is thick such as paper that has already been printed on.

  • Check whether or not using paper that is thick such as paper that has already been printed on.
  • Check whether or not the paper size and edge guide position are appropriate.

  • Set the edge guide of paper cassette correctly.

Check the settings

Check whether or not the paper settings of the main unit and driver are appropriate.

  • Check whether or not the paper settings of the main unit and driver are appropriate.
  • Check whether or not blank paper parts are included in the print data.
Go to step 4

Change the paper settings.

Check the network

If the data does not arrive for 5 or more minutes after the print command, blank paper is ejected due to a timeout error.

Does the blank print occur by internal printing (Status sheet, Nozzle check pattern, etc.)?

Go to step 5

If printing wirelessly, check whether prints with a wired connection.
If the symptom is continued after performing the above, contact the Epson Service Support department.

Check the feed/retard rollers.

Check whether or not the feed/retard rollers are attached correctly and whether or not the surfaces are dirty.

  • Are the Pickup Roller Assy/Retard Rollers installed correctly?
  • Are the Pickup Roller Assy/Retard Rollers dirty?
  • Are the Pickup Roller Assy/Retard Rollers worn out?
Go to step 6

If the rollers are not attached appropriately, reattach them.
Replace the rollers if necessary when damaged or the symptom is not resolved by cleaning the surfaces.

Check the nozzle check pattern

Print nozzle check patterns and check whether there are nozzles missing or deflection.

  • Nozzle check pattern print method is belows.
    • Normal menu
      • [Setting] ⇒ [Maintenance] ⇒ [Print Head Nozzle Check]
  • Service Support Mode
Go to step 7

Obtain the information as follows from the service status sheet and execute head cleaning according to the nozzle missing state check matrix table.

* If nozzle missing is not improved, refer to Nozzles missing. If nozzle missing is not improved after performing the above, go to step 7.

Check of Main Board

Check that there is continuity of the head circuit fuses (F700 and F701) on the main board.

Go to step 8 Replace the Main Board. (Main Board  )

Check the head FFC state

Visually check the FFC terminals to make sure they are not bent up or damaged.

Go to step 9 Replace the Head FFC Assy.

Check the Print head

If the symptom is not resolved even after performing the steps above, replace the Print Head.

Replace the Print Head. (Refer to Print Head)
If the trouble is not resolved after replacing the Printhead, contact the Epson Service Support department.
