APG Encoder

  1. Remove the two screws.

  2. Disengage the two hooks by sliding the Right SC Cover (A) toward the rear of the product, then remove it.


  3. Remove the screw.

  4. Slide the Left SC Cover (A) toward the rear of the product to disengage the tab.
  5. Disengage the three tabs by inserting a flathead screwdriver into the gap between the Left SC Cover (A) and the ADF Unit (B), and then remove the Left SC Cover (A).
  6. Open the Duplex Print Cover (A).
  7. Remove the two screws, then remove the Connector Cover (A).

  8. Remove the two screws, then remove the Right Housing Assy (A) toward the rear of the product.

  9. Remove the two screws.

  10. Raise the ADF Stopper (A) to lock the ADF Unit.
  11. Secure the ADF Stopper with one of the screws you removed at step 1.

  12. Hold the ADF/SCN Unit (A) with both hands as shown above, and open the ADF/SCN Unit (A).
  13. Open the ADF/SCN Unit (A) and extend the support stand (B) as far as it goes, then support theADF/SCN Unit (A) with the support stand.


    Caution / 注意

    Make sure that the extended support stand is fixed with the two hooks, and the two triangle marks face to each other.

    When closing the ADF/SCN Unit, hold down the switch on the support stand and raise the ADF/SCN Unit in the direction of the arrow to disengage the two hooks, then fold the support stand.
  14. Remove the three screws, then remove the Left Housing Assy (A) toward the rear of the product.

  15. Remove the Stacker Assy (A).


  16. Remove the Cassette Assy (A).
  17. Open the Front Cover Assy (A).
  18. While pressing the two hooks of the hinge (A), remove the Front Cover Assy (A) frontward.
  19. Remove the three screws fastening the Front Left Housing (A).

  20. Release the hook and remove the Front Left Housing (A).
  21. Remove the Front Cover Hinge Left (B) from the Dowel on the Front Inner Housing Left (A).
  22. Remove the four screws, then remove the Front Inner Housing Center (A) frontward.

  23. Remove the two screws fastening the Front Inner Housing Left (A).

  24. Remove the Front Inner Housing Left (C) while releasing the place interfering (A) with the ADF/SCN Unit (A).
  25. Release the Panel FFC (B) from the two clamps (A).
  26. Remove the two screws and remove the Power Supply Unit Cover (A).

  27. Release the two cables from the two clamps (A).
  28. Remove the cables from the connectors (CN2 (with hooks), CN3, CN5) of the Power Supply Unit.
  29. Remove the Power Supply Unit Cable (B) from the Power Supply Unit (A) while releasing the hook.
  30. Remove the three screws and remove the Power Supply Unit (A).

  31. Remove the two screws, then remove the Rear ASF Unit (A).

  32. Remove the two screws, and remove the I/F Housing Bracket (A).

  33. Remove the cable from the connector (CN7) (B) of the I/F Port Assy (A) while releasing the hook.

  34. Remove the cable from the connectors (CN5, CN6) (B) of the I/F Port Assy (A).


  35. Remove the four screws, and remove the I/F Port Assy (A).

      Assembly / 組み立て

      CN6: USB cable with white marking or white tape: Connect to "WH".
  36. Remove the screw, and retract the Tube Guide to the back face side.

  37. Remove the hole from the screw feet (A) and pull out the folded portion (C) of the PF Scale Protection Material (B).
  38. Release the two hooks and remove the PF Scale Protection Material (A).
  39. Remove the screw, then remove the PF Brush Assy (A).

  40. Remove the two screws, then remove the APG Drive Unit.

  41. Disconnect the cable (B) from the connector (A) of the sensor.


    Assembly / 組み立て
    • Align the triangle mark (B) on the left APG cam (A) with the triangle mark (B) on the spur gear 14.4 (D) on the APG Drive Assy (C). At this point, make sure the mark (F) on the combination gear (E) can be seen through the hole on the APG Drive Assy (C).
    • Insert the pin on the upper paper guide (G) into the groove on the release shaft holder of the APG Drive Unit.

    • If the left and right APG cams are not in the correct position, the gears cannot be phasealigned. Therefore, ensure the left and right APG cams are in the correct position prior to installing the APG Drive Assy.
    • With the power turned OFF, ensure the circle mark on the left and right APG cams are positioned below.

      If the circle marks are not positioned below, then the APG cam may be installed the wrong way up on the shaft. Therefore, check the orientation and reinstall.
    • When assembling the APG Drive Unit, check that the triangle mark on the Left APG Cam (A) is positioned toward the APG Drive Unit, and that “6” on the Right APG Cam (B) is positioned below.
      * To align the APG Drive Unit and APG cam phases, it is necessary to lift up the shaft upon which the APG cams are installed.
  42. Remove the screw, and remove the Heat Vent Cover (A).

  43. Release the cable from the two clamps (A).
  44. Remove the FFC from the connector of the PF Encoder Assy (A) and release the FFC by peeling away the double-sided tape.


    Caution / 注意

    When removing the PS Guide Left (A), be careful not to damage the cable or FFC on the sharp edge of the PS Guide Left(A).
  45. Remove the three screws and remove the PS Guide Left (A) toward the direction of the arrow.

  46. Release the cable from the clamp (A).
  47. Remove the two screws, and remove the Rear ASF Relay Connector Assy (A). (If the PCB Mechanism Relay Board Mounting Plate is mounted, remove the screw too.)

  48. Remove the APG Motor Cable from the Relay Connector (A) and free it from the clamp (B).
  49. Remove the two screws fastening the APG Motor Assy (A).

    Caution / 注意

    The APG Encoder Cable is routed to the inside of the printer so when implementing the next step, be careful not to pull strongly on the APG Motor Assy.
  50. Pull the APG Motor Assy (A) slowly to the front by releasing the hook, and release the APG Encoder Cable (B) from the clamp.
  51. Remove the cable from the connector of the APG Encoder (A) and remove the APG Motor Assy (B).
  52. Remove the screw.

  53. Disengage the hook, then remove the APG Motor Sensor Holder (A).

  54. Remove the APG Encoder (B) from the frame (A).
