When replacing this part, you need to run the menu from the service support mode before replacing it.

  1. Remove the two screws.

  2. Disengage the two hooks by sliding the Right SC Cover (A) toward the rear of the product, then remove it.


  3. Remove the screw.

  4. Slide the Left SC Cover (A) toward the rear of the product to disengage the tab.
  5. Disengage the three tabs by inserting a flathead screwdriver into the gap between the Left SC Cover (A) and the ADF Unit (B), and then remove the Left SC Cover (A).
  6. Open the Duplex Print Cover (A).
  7. Remove the two screws, then remove the Connector Cover (A).

  8. Remove the two screws, then remove the Right Housing Assy (A) toward the rear of the product.

  9. Remove the two screws.

  10. Raise the ADF Stopper (A) to lock the ADF Unit.
  11. Secure the ADF Stopper with one of the screws you removed at step 1.

  12. Hold the ADF/SCN Unit (A) with both hands as shown above, and open the ADF/SCN Unit (A).
  13. Open the ADF/SCN Unit (A) and extend the support stand (B) as far as it goes, then support theADF/SCN Unit (A) with the support stand.


    Caution / 注意

    Make sure that the extended support stand is fixed with the two hooks, and the two triangle marks face to each other.

    Check Point / チェックポイント

    When closing the ADF/SCN Unit, hold down the switch on the support stand and raise the ADF/SCN Unit in the direction of the arrow to disengage the two hooks, then fold the support stand.

  14. Remove the Stacker Assy (A).


  15. Open the Front Cover Assy (A).
  16. While pressing the two hooks of the hinge (A), remove the Front Cover Assy (A) frontward.
  17. Remove the four screws, then remove the Front Inner Housing Center (A) frontward.

  18. Move the CR Unit (A) to the print head replacement position.
  19. Remove the thee screws that secure the joint portion of ink tube (A).

  20. Remove the ink tube joint portion (A).




    Caution / 注意

    To prevent the ink tube joint portion from being damaged, hold the frame of the ink tube joint portion with both hands and remove the joint portion straight upward.

  21. Hook the ink tube connector (A) on the hooks (B)  on the frame.


  22. Disconnect the FFC (B) from the connector (A) of the CR encoder sensor.


  23. Remove the three screws, then remove the Print Head (A).

      Assembly / 組み立て
      • Follow the procedure below to install the Print Head.
      1. Connect the four Head FFCs (A) to the connector of the Print Head.
      2. Press the Print Head (A) in the direction of the arrow in order, set it to the CR Unit (B), and fix it with the three screws.
      3. Connect the FFC (A) to the connector of the CR encoder sensor.
  24. Disconnect the four Head FFCs (A) from the connector of the Print Head.
  25. Wrap the front cover open sensor (A) with tape, and disable the sensor function.
  26. Install the ink pack and the Maintenance Box.
  27. Start the printer by Service Support Mode.
    Caution / 注意

    Wrap the front cover sensor with tape surely.
    (When the adhesive tape peels off, the CR unit unintentionally moving.)

  28. Select the “Adjustment Main Unit: MENU” from the service support mode menu.
  29. Select the “Main Parts Adjust: MENU” from the Adjustment Main Unit: MENU.
  30. Select the “Print Head: MENU” and execute the “B80 After Repair Adjustment”.
  31. Set the ink leak measurement jig (A) to the ink tube connector (B) of the Print Head.

    Caution / 注意

    The smoked face of ink leak measurement jig is put toward the upside.

  32. Perform the Ink Leak Check based on the determination criteria of the Ink Leak Check.
  33. Perform the adjustment in order from the head angular mecha adjustment.


Caution / 注意
  • Make sure to clean the Ink tube joint part (A) of Ink Supply Unit by using the Cleaning stick, because perform the Ink Leak Check correctly.
    Make sure to clean the Ink tube joint part of Printhead by using the Cleaning stick, because perform the Ink Leak Check correctly.
  • If ink is remained to Ink tube joint part, Ink Leak Check can not perform correctly. Therefore cleaning the ink surely (B).

Installing the Print Head

Follow the procedure below to install the Print Head.

  1. Connect the four Head FFCs (B) to the connector of the Print Head (A).
  2. Press the Print Head (A) in the direction of the arrow in order, set it to the CR Unit, and fix it with the three screws.

  3. Connect the FFC (A) to the connector of the CR encoder sensor.
  4. Set the Ink Tube Connector (A) at the Print Head, and fasten it using three screws.

    • : C.B.P-TITE-SCREW-2.5x10-F.ZN-3C

Confirmation after replace the Print Head

In this printer, the cap of the ink system follows the inclination of the Print Head. However, if hardened ink is accumulated on the cap, capping may not be done properly and printing failure may result. After the adjustment is complete, make sure to perform the operation check of the cap following the procedure below.
* After checking the operation, make sure that the cap is not tilted.

  1. Push the cap of the ink system (A) to the rear and confirm the cap (B) surely returns to the original position.
  2. Push the cap of the Cap Unit to the home position and confirm the cap surely returns to the original position.
  3. Repeat Step 1 to Step 2 a few times. If the action of the cap is too slow or awkward, or does not return to the original position, replace the ink system with a new one.

  4. Turn the printer on in service support mode.







Check Point / チェックポイント

Execute the nozzle check after the initial ink charge because the ink leak check is performed after this.

Check Point / チェックポイント

In this product, Ink Leak Check is necessary to prevent the ink leakage due to assembly mistake. Therefore, make sure to install the ink leak measurement jig (A) when installing the Ink Tube to Printhead.

  • Before using the Leak Check Jig, push the ink leak measurement jig along the folds until the fold angle become 90 (B) degrees.
