Lines not smooth and ruled-line deviation

Symptom
  • Printed lines are not smooth.
  • Lines printed in double in parts
  • Color deviation of part of mixed colors
Suspected cause
  • Paper matter
  • Paper settings of main unit or printer driver settings are inappropriate.
  • CR Scale reading failure
  • Foreign matter on CR scanning lines
  • Overload when CR operation
  • Adjustment value abnormal
  • PG right and left difference

Check the paper

Check that the paper surface is flat.

Change to standard paper or paper that is not folded or warped.

Check the settings

Check the settings of the main unit/printer driver listed below.

  • Check that the paper type/size settings and actual loaded paper are appropriate.
  • Quality option: Standard or High?

Are the printer/driver settings appropriate?

This is to be dealt with by a service engineer.

Go to step 1

  • If the paper setting is wrong
    • Recommend to change the paper setting according to the paper being used.
  • If the paper setting is wrong
    • If the print quality setting is wrong

Check the CR scale

Visually check the CR scale to confirm that it is not dirty or damaged.

Nozzle condition is excellent?

Go to step 2
  • When the CR Scale is damaged
    • Replace the CR Scale. (Refer to CR Scale  )

Check the CR Unit operation

Check the following CR operation.

Caution / 注意

Execute “CR Unlock Power Off” from the Service Support Mode in advance to release the CR lock before checking the Ink system assy.

  • Move the CR left and right while holding the belt and check that it moves smoothly.
  • Is there any foreign object on the CR guide frame or CR scanning lines?
  • Check that the CR belt is not damaged or worn out.

Go to step 3

Clean the CR guide frame and apply grease. (Refer to Lubrication 4  .)

Check the Bi-D Adjustment value

Print adjustment patterns and check that the adjustment values are not deviated.
(Execute the following item from the service support mode.)

  • When lines are offset overall
  1. Bi-d Adjust [B46]
  2. BI-D BAND ADJUST [B48]  
    When the center of the image is correct but both edges of the image (width of about 10 mm) are offset (image 2) even after performing the above
  3. PTS Acc./Dec. Adjust [B45]
Go to step 4

Enter an appropriate value from the adjustment pattern.

Check the Head Angular Adjustment Mech value

(Execute the following item from the service support mode.)

  1. Head Angular Adj. Mech [B43] and adjust the CR angular while viewing the printed patterns.
    After CR mechanism adjustment is completed,
  2. Execute following adjustment and adjust the remaining difference.
Go to step 5
  1. Refer to the print patterns and perform CR angular adjustment.
  2. Enter an appropriate value from the adjustment pattern.

PG Adjustment

Is the PG within the specified value range (1.35 ±0.05 mm)?

Contact the Epson Service Support department.

Perform  the "Check the PG  ".
