Paper Guide Upper Assy (EM-C800 Series)

Adjustment / 調整
  • When replacing this part, you need to run the menu from the service support mode before replacing it. Refer to the following to execute.
  • When replacing/removing the CR Unit, refer to the following pages and make sure to perform the specified operations including the required adjustments.
  • If print quality is poor (e.g., ink blotting) after removing the Main Frame Assy, check the following page and perform the work including the specified adjustments, which may improve print quality.
  • If print quality is poor (e.g., ink blotting) after removing the Print Head, check the following page and perform the work including the specified adjustments, which may improve print quality.

  1. Remove the four screws, then remove the Rear Cover (Back) (A).

    Assembly / 組み立て

    Attach the two dowels of the Rear Cover (Back) (A) to the positioning holes on the Housing Left (B) and Housing Right (C).
  2. Remove the two screws, then remove the Rear Top Cover (A).

  3. Open the ADF/SCN Unit and remove the three screws that secure the Housing Left (A).

  4. Lift the Housing Left (A) to release the two hooks on the front side of the Housing Left.
  5. Disengage two hooks on the rear side of the Housing Left (A), and remove the Housing Left (A).


    Assembly / 組み立て

    Insert the eight tabs on the Housing Left (A) to the positioning holes of the Housing Upper (B) and the RIPS Unit (C).
  6. Disengage the hook, and remove the Maintenance Box Cover (A).
  7. Open the ADF/SCN Unit and remove the four screws that secure the Housing Right (A).

  8. Lift the Housing Right to release the two hooks on the front side of the Housing Right, then remove the Housing Right.

    Insert the four tabs of the Housing Right (A) to the positioning holes on the Ink Supply Unit.
  9. Remove the six screws, then remove the Housing Upper (A).

  10. Remove the two pieces of acetate tape (A), and disconnect the cable (C) from CN100 connector on the Main Board (B).


  11. Release the cable (B) from the two guides and the clamp (A).


  12. Release the cable (B) from the protective sheet (A) by opening the sheet in the direction of the arrow.

    Insert the two tabs of the protective sheet (A) into the two slits respectively.
  13. Disconnect the ground wire (A), and while pushing the connector’s tab upward, disconnect the cable (C) from CN799 connector on the Main Board (B).


  14. Open the ADF/SCN Unit (A).
    Caution / 注意
    • If you remove or attach the ADF/SCN Unit while it is closed, the hinge may be damaged.
  15. Remove the two screws and remove the ADF/SCN Unit (A) in the direction of the arrow.

    • Before screwing the ADF/SCN Unit, make sure the hinges are properly attached in place.

    • If the ADF/SCN Unit is opened when the hinges are NOT secured, the unit may be damaged.
  16. Remove the screw and then remove the Hinge Assy (Left) (A).

  17. Remove the three screws, and remove the Hinge Lower Cover (Left) (A).

  18. Remove the screw and then remove the Hinge Assy (Right) (A).

  19. Remove the three screws, and remove the Hinge Lower Cover (Right) (A).

  20. Remove the two screws securing the Cable Guide (A).

    Check Point / チェックポイント

    When removing the screws, if the screwdriver interferes with the ADF/SCN Unit, use a stubby screwdriver.
  21. Peel off the CRCM FFC (B) from the CRCM FFC Sheet (A).
  22. Peel off the double-sided tape at two locations and then remove the CRCM FFC Sheet (A).
  23. Disconnect the cables (B) from the connector (CN20, CN51, CN56) of the Relay Board (A).
  24. Remove the acetate tape (A), and release the cable (B) from the two guides.
  25. Disconnect the two cables (B) from the connectors (CN74, CN80) of the Main Board (A).
  26. Remove the two screws, and release the ground wire (A) from the slit to remove it.

    Assembly / 組み立て

    Attach the ground wire with the terminal (A) oriented as shown below.
  27. Move the Cable Guide as shown below.
  28. Disconnect the cables (B) from the connectors (CN51, CN56) on the Relay Board (A).


  29. Release the solenoid cable (B) and Rear ASF Paper Detection Sensor cable (C) from the Cable Guide (A).

    Assembly / 組み立て
    • Route the solenoid cable (A) through the five hooks on the Cable Guide (B).
    • Route the Rear ASF Paper Detection Sensor cable (A) through the three hooks on the Cable Guide (B).

  30. Remove the four screws and then remove the Rear ASF Unit (A).

  31. Remove the two screws, then remove the PS Ground Plate (A).

    Assemble ensuring that screw types are correct.
  32. Release the Rear ASF Sensor cable (B) from the three hooks of the Cable Guide (A).
  33. Release the cables (B) from the slit of the Cable Guide (B).
  34. Remove the screw securing the AC Inlet (A).

  35. Release the FFC (B) from three hooks on the Rear ASF Upper Guide Assy (A).

  36. Remove the four screws, then remove the Rear ASF Upper Guide Assy (A).

    Assembly / 組み立て

    First, insert the AC inlet (A) into the hole.
  37. Disconnect the FFCs (A) and cables (B) from the connectors (CN2, CN9, CN51, CN43, CN55, CN609) on the Main Board.
  38. Disconnect the FFCs (A) and cable (B) from the connectors (CN3, CN67, CN66, CN68, CN41, CN8) on the Main Board.


    Check Point / チェックポイント

    Release the connector (CN41) on the Main Board by lowering the connector lock in the direction of the arrow.
  39. Disconnect the cables (A) from the connector (CN33, CN802) on the Main Board.
  40. Disconnect the FFCs (A) and cables (B) from the connectors (CN50, CN52, CN72, CN73, CN75, CN77) on the Main Board.
  41. Remove the two pieces of double-sided tape for the FAX FFC (B) from the MB Shield Plate Upper (A), and remove the ferrite core (C) from the FAX FFC (B).
  42. Release the PE Sensor Cable (B) from the clamp (A).
  43. Peel off the double-sided tape of the Relay FFC (B) from the MB Shield Plate Upper (A).
  44. Release the CR motor cable (B) from two clamps (A).
  45. Remove the five screws securing the Main Board Assy (A).

  46. Remove the screws securing the Main Board Assy (A).

    Caution / 注意

    In the next step, be careful not to damage the PF Scale.
  47. Disengage the hole of the Main Board Assy from the hook of the CR Guide Frame, then remove the Main Board Assy upward.


    Assembly / 組み立て

    Affix the FFC (B) to connect to the Main Board Assy (A) connector (CN52) using double-sided tape at the positions in the figure below.
  48. Slide the CR Driven Pulley Assy (A) in the direction of the arrow to remove the CR Timing Belt (B) from the CR Driven Pulley Assy (A).
  49. Remove the Extension Spring (A), then remove the CR Driven Pulley Assy (B).

  50. Follow the steps below to unlock the carriage (CR).

    Check Point / チェックポイント

    If the carriage is already unlocked and the CR Unit (A) can move freely, as shown below, this step is not necessary.
    1. Release the FFC (A) from the three hooks.

    2. Rotate the gear (B) of the Ink System Unit (A) in the direction of the arrow, and move the CR Unit (C) to the left side.

      Caution / 注意

      When rotating the gear of the Ink System Unit, take extra care not to damage or disconnect the FFC by touching it.
  51. Remove the two screws, and then remove the Head Upper Cover (A).

    Assembly / 組み立て

    Attach the two tabs on the Head Upper Cover to the positioning holes of the CR Unit.
  52. Remove the two screws, and remove the Ink Tube Joint Cover (A).

  53. Remove the film (A) from the hook on the Ink Tube Joint Cover.

    Set the film (A) under the rib of the Ink Tube Joint Cover.
  54. Remove the two screws, and remove the Ink Tube Joint Cover (A).

  55. Remove the film (A) from the hook and remove the Ink Tube Joint Cover (B).


    Assembly / 組み立て

    Set the film (B) under the rib of the Ink Tube Joint Cover (A).
  56. Remove the two Bind Screw3 x 12 (w/washer).


  57. Remove the Ink Supply Tube (A) by pulling it straight in the direction of the arrow.


    Check Point / チェックポイント

    Pull the end (A) of the Ink Supply Tube straight up while keeping it horizontal.
    To keep it horizontal, it is recommended to work by grasping the end of the Ink Supply Tube with both hands.
    Caution / 注意

    • Ink may spill from the Ink Supply Tube. Prepare waste cloths or similar in advance.

    • Never pull out the Ink Supply Tube at an angle, as ink leakage will occur if the tube is pulled out at an angle.

    Assembly / 組み立て

    When attaching the ink Supply Tube (A), insert the four nozzles into each of the four connection holes, and insert them all the way in.

  58. Remove the three Head Screw Assy.

    Assembly / 組み立て

    Tighten the screws in order given below.
  59. Remove the double-sided tape from the Head FFC Assy (A), and remove the Printhead (B).


    Caution / 注意

    Do not touch the nozzle surface of the Printhead.
  60. Disconnect the Head FFC Assy from the four connectors and remove the Printhead (B).


    Assembly / 組み立て

    • The correspondence between the four printhead connectors and the four Head FFC Assy FFCs is as below.

      • Head FFC Assy


      • Printhead
    • Install the Printhead in accordance with the following procedure.
    1. Ensure the Head FFC Assy (A) is as below.
    2. Connect FFC (1) and FFC (2) to the two connectors on the right side of the Printhead (A).
    3. Connect FFC (3) and FFC (4) to the two connectors on the left side of the Printhead (A).
    4. Install the Printhead (A) from the right side of the Printhead (A).
    5. Using double-sided tape, affix the Head FFC Assy (A) to the Printhead (B).
  61. Remove the screw and remove the Frame Plate (A).

    Assembly / 組み立て

    The washer (A) is attached with the screw shown below. Be sure to attach the washer (A) when tightening the screw.
  62. Release the Head FFC Assy (A) from the seven tabs on the Frame Base.

    Set the Ferrite Core (B) of the Head FFC Assy (A) in the point shown below.
  63. Slide the CR Driven Pulley Assy (A) in the direction of the arrow to remove the CR Timing Belt (B) from the CR Driven Pulley Assy.


  64. Remove the Extension Spring (A).
  65. Peel off the CSIC FFC (A) from the frame.
  66. Remove the three screws, then remove the Main Frame Assy (A).

    Assembly / 組み立て
    • Fix CSIC FFC (A) on the frame at the location shown in the figure below by using double-sided tape at two locations.
    • Route the CR Motor Cable (A) with reference to the figure below.
  67. Disengage four hooks of the Paper Guide Upper Assy (A), and remove the Paper Guide Upper Assy (A) from the Main Frame Assy (B).
