LFT4 PID excess load error (error code: 000221)

Cause

The load became unexpectedly high with additional hopper lift driving.
State in which load of motor exceeds expected load, and motor does not rotate at all

Suspected cause

Paper incorrectly loaded or number of sheets loaded exceeds maximum
Foreign object in paper cassette
Damage to or foreign object trapped in additional lift gear train parts
Additional lift phase sensor failure
Additional lift motor failure
Optional Paper Cassette Main Board Assy failure

Troubleshooting

Step	Check and measure	Yes	No
1	Check the paper cassette Check that there is no foreign object in the paper cassette.	Go to step 2	Remove the foreign object.
2	Check the paper cassette Check that more than the maximum number of sheets of paper is not loaded. Furthermore, is the paper loaded correctly?	If the error did not occur, go to step 3.	When more than the maximum number of sheets of paper is loaded Reduce the number of sheets of paper loaded. When the paper is not loaded correctly Load it correctly.
3	Check the paper cassette_3 For paper cassette, check the following items. Is the hopper mechanism operating correctly? (Check if the hopper operate by rotating the drive gears of the left side of the paper cassette by hand.) Is driving gear damaged? Nozzle condition is excellent?	Go to step 4	When the hopper mechanism does not operate correctly Replace the paper cassette. When the drive gears is damaged Replace the drive gears.
4	Perform the additional lift motor operation check Turn on the power and check the additional lift motor operation. Did the additional lift motor operate (rotate)?	Go to step 5	Go to step 6
5	Perform the additional lift motor operation check Check that the additional lift motor is not operating abnormally. (rotation does not stop)	Replace the Optional Paper Cassette Main Board Assy. (If the trouble is not resolved after replacing the Optional Paper Cassette Main Board Assy, inquire at Epson Service Support department.)	Replace the additional lift phase sensor.
6	Check the additional lift gear train parts Check that there is locking due to foreign object and the additional lift gear train parts are not damaged. Is the result OK?	Inquire at Epson Service Support department.	When any foreign object exists Remove the foreign object. When damaged Inquire at Epson Service Support department.
