# Firmware Update

When turning on the printer for the first time, start it in the service support mode. (See "Starting Service Support Mode".)

After the printer has started, connect the USB flash drive, in which the latest firmware is stored, to the USB port of the printer. Then select [08 USB Memory FW Update] in the service support mode menu to check the firmware version of the printer.

If the firmware version of the printer is older than the latest version which is openly available on the web, make sure to update the printer’s firmware. For EP-C800 Series, peel off the piece of tape (A) on the Left Cover and use the USB port (B) on the rear side. If firmware update fails, refer to What to do when firmware update fails.
