Blank printout (blank paper ejected)

Symptom
  • Blank paper is printed when printing.

  • Network failure
  • Dirt/wrong installation/wear or damage of the Pickup Roller Assy or Retard Roller
  • Inksystem Assy failure
  • Printhead failure
  • Head FFC Assy failure
  • Main Board Assy failure

Check the operation when blank pages are ejected

Check the operation during blank paper ejection according to the procedure described below.

  • Double feeding: Feed two sheets at the same time. The first sheet is printed and the second sheet is blank.
  • Blank paper ejected: Paper is ejected without the CR unit moving.
  • Blank printout: Paper is ejected without getting printed in spite of the CR unit performed printing operation (moving to the left and right).

Check the paper

Check the following points about paper status.

  • Check whether or not using paper that is thick such as paper that has already been printed on.
  • Check whether or not the paper size and edge guide position are appropriate.

Are the paper being used and the loading condition appropriate?

Go to step 3
  • Change the standard paper.
  • Set the edge guide of paper cassette correctly.

If the symptom continues to occur after performing the above, go to step 3.

Check the settings

For paper settings and the print data, check the following items.

  • Check whether or not the paper settings of the main unit and driver are appropriate.
  • Check whether or not blank paper parts are included in the print data.

Are the paper settings and the print data appropriate?

Go to step 4

Change the settings.

If nozzle missing is not improved after performing the above, go to step 4.

Check the network.

If the data does not arrive for 5 or more minutes after the print command, blank paper is ejected due to a timeout error.

Does the blank print occur by internal printing (Status sheet, Nozzle check pattern, etc.)?

Go to step 5

If printing wirelessly, print with a wired connection.

Check the Pickup Roller Assy/Retard Rollers

Check the following point.

  • Are the Pickup Roller Assy/Retard Rollers installed correctly?
  • Are the Pickup Roller Assy/Retard Rollers dirty?
  • Are the Pickup Roller Assy/Retard Rollers worn out?

Do the rollers rotate correctly?

Go to step 6
  • When the rollers are not attached appropriately
    • Reattach them.
  • When the rollers are dirty
    • Clean them.
  • When the rollers worn out
    • Replace them.

If the symptom continues to occur after performing the above, go to step 6.

Check the nozzle check pattern

Print nozzle check patterns and check whether there are nozzles missing or deflection.

Nozzle condition is OK?

Go to step 7

Obtain the information as follows from the service status sheet and execute head cleaning according to the nozzle missing state check matrix table.

  • Nozzle missing rank
  • Cleaning History

If nozzle missing is not improved, refer to Nozzles missing. If the symptom continues to occur after performing the above, go to step 7.

Check the Head FFC Assy

For Head FFC Assy, check the following items.

  • Is not the Head FFC Assy inserted slanted?
  • Is the terminal of the Head FFC Assy peeled or damaged?

Is the Head FFC Assy normal?

Replace the Printhead
(Refer to Printhead (EM-C800 Series)/ Printhead (EP-C800 Series))

If the symptom continues to occur after replacing the Printhead, replace the Main Board Assy.
(Refer to Main Board Assy (EM-C800 Series)/ Main Board Assy (EP-C800 Series))
If not improved, contact the Epson Service Support. department.

Replace the Head FFC Assy. (Refer to Head FFC Assy (EM-C800 Series)/Head FFC Assy (EP-C800 Series).)

If the symptom continues to occur after replacing the Head FFC Assy, replace the following parts in sequence.
