CR Unit Porous Pad

  1. Remove the two screws.

  2. Disengage the two hooks by sliding the Right SC Cover (A) toward the rear of the product, then remove it.


  3. Remove the screw.

  4. Slide the Left SC Cover (A) toward the rear of the product to disengage the tab.
  5. Disengage the three tabs by inserting a flathead screwdriver into the gap between the Left SC Cover (A) and the ADF Unit (B), and then remove the Left SC Cover (A).
  6. Open the Duplex Print Cover (A).
  7. Remove the two screws, then remove the Connector Cover (A).

  8. Remove the two screws, then remove the Right Housing Assy (A) toward the rear of the product.

  9. Remove the two screws.

  10. Raise the ADF Stopper (A) to lock the ADF Unit.
  11. Secure the ADF Stopper with one of the screws you removed at step 1.

  12. Hold the ADF/SCN Unit (A) with both hands as shown above, and open the ADF/SCN Unit (A).
  13. Open the ADF/SCN Unit (A) and extend the support stand (B) as far as it goes, then support theADF/SCN Unit (A) with the support stand.


    Caution / 注意

    Make sure that the extended support stand is fixed with the two hooks, and the two triangle marks face to each other.
    Check Point / チェックポイント

    When closing the ADF/SCN Unit, hold down the switch on the support stand and raise the ADF/SCN Unit in the direction of the arrow to disengage the two hooks, then fold the support stand.
  14. Remove the Stacker Assy (A).


  15. Open the Front Cover Assy (A).
  16. While pressing the two hooks of the hinge (A), remove the Front Cover Assy (A) frontward.
  17. Remove the four screws, then remove the Front Inner Housing Center (A) frontward.

  18. Remove the two Air Tubes (B) connected to the Print Head (A) side.


  19. Remove the three screws that secure the Self-Sealing Unit (A).

  20. Remove the Self-Sealing Unit.

    Caution / 注意

    Be sure to move the Self-Sealing Unit straight up to remove it.

  21. Hook the Self-Sealing Unit to the hook (A) on the frame.
  22. Disconnect the FFC (B) from the connector (A) of the CR encoder sensor.
  23. Remove the three screws, then remove the Print Head (A).

  24. Follow the removal order to remove the two hooks and then remove the FFC fixing clamp (B) from the Print Head (A).

    Caution / 注意

    Be sure to follow the removal order.

    Be careful not to break the hook.
  25. Peel off the double-sided tape [C] that is adhering the Print Head (A) and Head FFCs (B).
  26. Disconnect the four Head FFCs (B) from the connector of the Print Head (A).

    Installing the Print Head

    Follow the procedure below to install the Print Head.

    1. Connect the four Head FFCs (B) to the connector of the Print Head (A).
    2. Fix the Head FFCs (B) with the double-sided tape (C) while aligning it with the guide lines engraved on the Print Head (A).
    3. Connect the two Head FFCs (B) (the side without double-sided tape) to the connectors of the Print Head (A).

    4. Attach the FFC fixing clamp (B) to the Print Head (A) following the installation order.

      Caution / 注意

      Be sure to follow the installation order.

      Be careful not to break the hook.

    5. Press the Print Head (A) in the direction of the arrows in order to set it to the CR Unit.

    6. Secure the Print Head (A) with the three screws. Tighten the screws in the order shown below.

    7. Connect the FFC (A) to the connector of the CR encoder sensor.
    8. Attach the Self-Sealing Unit (A) to the Print Head inserting the bosses into the positioning holes (B).
    9. Secure the Self-Sealing Unit with the three screws. Tighten the screws in the order shown below.

    10. Connect the two Air Tubes (A) to the Print Head.

      Caution / 注意

      When inserting the Air Tube, be sure to insert it all the way to the base of the joint.
      The line marked on each of the tubes must be visible when viewed from the front side of the printer. (tolerance: ±45°)

    Confirmation after replace the Print Head

    In this printer, the cap of the ink system follows the inclination of the Print Head. However, if hardened ink is accumulated on the cap, capping may not be done properly and printing failure may result. After the adjustment is complete, make sure to perform the operation check of the cap following the procedure below.

    1. Push the cap of the ink system (A) to the rear and confirm the cap (B) surely returns to the original position.
    2. Push the cap of the Cap Unit to the home position and confirm the cap surely returns to the original position.

    3. Repeat Step 1 to Step 2 a few times. If the action of the cap is too slow or awkward, or does not return to the original position, replace the ink system with a new one.

    Preparation before Adjustment

    1. Wrap the front cover open sensor (A) with tape and disable the sensor function.

    2. Install the ink pack and the Maintenance Box.

    Caution / 注意

    Wrap the front cover sensor (A) with tape surely. (When the adhesive tape peels off, the CR unit unintentionally moving.)
  27. Remove the Cassette Assy (A).
  28. Remove the three screws that secures the Front Right Housing (A).

  29. Disengage the two hooks, and remove the Front Right Housing (A).
  30. Remove the three screws, then remove the Left Housing Assy (A) toward the rear of the product.

  31. Remove the three screws fastening the Front Left Housing (A).

  32. Release the hook and remove the Front Left Housing (A).
  33. Remove the Front Cover Hinge Left (B) from the Dowel on the Front Inner Housing Left (A).
  34. Remove the Front Cover Hinge Right (B) from the Dowel on the Front Inner Housing Right (A).
  35. Remove the two screws fastening the Front Inner Housing Left (A).

  36. Remove the Front Inner Housing Left (C) while releasing the place interfering (A) with the ADF/SCN Unit (A).
  37. Release the Panel FFC (B) from the two clamps (A).
  38. Remove the two screws and remove the Power Supply Unit Cover (A).

  39. Release the two cables from the two clamps (A).
  40. Remove the cables from the connectors (CN2 (with hooks), CN3, CN5) of the Power Supply Unit.
  41. Remove the Power Supply Unit Cable (B) from the Power Supply Unit (A) while releasing the hook.
  42. Remove the three screws and remove the Power Supply Unit (A).

  43. Remove the two screws, then remove the Rear ASF Unit (A).

  44. Remove the two screws, and remove the I/F Housing Bracket (A).

  45. Remove the cable from the connector (CN7) (B) of the I/F Port Assy (A) while releasing the hook.

  46. Remove the cable from the connectors (CN5, CN6) (B) of the I/F Port Assy (A).


  47. Remove the four screws, and remove the I/F Port Assy (A).

  48. Remove the screw, and retract the Tube Guide to the back face side.

  49. Remove the hole from the screw feet (A) and pull out the folded portion (C) of the PF Scale Protection Material (B).
  50. Release the two hooks and remove the PF Scale Protection Material (A).
  51. Remove the screw, then remove the PF Brush Assy (A).

  52. Remove the two screws, then remove the APG Drive Unit.

  53. Disconnect the cable (B) from the connector (A) of the sensor.


    Assembly / 組み立て
    • Align the triangle mark (B) on the left APG cam (A) with the triangle mark (B) on the spur gear 14.4 (D) on the APG Drive Assy  (C). At this point, make sure the mark (F) on the combination gear (E) can be seen through the hole on the APG Drive Assy (C).
    • Insert the pin on the upper paper guide (G) into the groove on the release shaft holder of the APG Drive Unit.

  54. At the full side, disengage the Extension Spring (A) from the hook of the frame.

    Caution / 注意
    • The CR Scale is made of SUS and very fragile. Therefore, take extreme care when handling one.
    • If you disassemble the CR Scale, exchange it for the new CR scale.
  55. Remove the CR Scale (A) from the hook of frame.
  56. At the home side, remove the CR Scale (A) from the hook of the frame.

  57. Pull out the CR Scale (B) from the slit of the CR Unit  (A).


    Assembly / 組み立て

    Follow the procedure below to install the CR Scale.

    1. At the full side, hook the CR Scale (A) on the frame.
    2. Hook the Extension Spring (A) on the frame.
    3. Route the CR Scale (B) through the slit on the CR unit (A).
    4. At the home side, hook the CR Scale (A) on the frame.
    5. Check the hook is inserted all the way.
  58. Remove the Driven Extension Spring (A) from the hook on the frame, and loosen the tension on the CR Timing Belt (B).
  59. Remove the CR Timing Belt (B) by sliding the Driven Pulley Holder (A) in the direction of the arrow.
  60. Remove the Driven Pulley Holder (A) with the Driven Extension Spring (B).
  61. Remove the screw, then remove the Left PG Cam Screw Holder (A) with the screw.

  62. Remove the screw, then remove the Anti Static Brush Plate (A).

  63. Remove the Left PG Torsion Spring (A).
  64. Remove the screw, then remove the Left Mounting Plate (A).

  65. Remove the E-ring (A) and the bush (B), then remove the left PG cam (C) and the parallel pin.

    Caution / 注意
    • When removing the APG gear, be careful not to touch the PF scale (A).
    • Be careful not to drop the parallel pin.
  66. Remove the Right PG Torsion Spring (A).
  67. Remove the screw, then remove the CR Shaft Spring Mounting Plate (A).

  68. Remove the plastic washer (A), then remove the Right APG Cam (B) and the parallel pin (C).
  69. Remove the screw, then remove the Right PG Cam (A).

  70. Remove the E-ring (A) and the two plastic washers (B), then remove the right scale mounting plate (C).
  71. Remove the seven screws, then remove the Right Bearing Mounting Plate (A).

  72. Remove the USB Host Cable (CN106) (A) and the Speaker Cable (CN504) (B) from the connector of the Main Board.


  73. Remove the Front Cover Sensor Cable from the connector (CN31) (A) of the PCB Mechanism Relay Board.


  74. Release the Speaker Cable and the Front Cover Sensor Cable from the three clamps (A).
  75. Release the USB Host Cable, Speaker Cable and the Front Cover Sensor cable from the five clamps (A).


  76. Remove the two screws, and remove the Front Inner Housing Right Assy (A).

  77. Remove the two screws, then remove the CR Guide Frame (A).

  78. Remove the cable from the Relay Connector (A) and remove the ferrite core (C) from the clamp (B).


  79. Remove the two screws, and remove the CR Motor (A).

    Assembly / 組み立て

    Mount with the slit unit in the CR Motor (A) facing the top side.
  80. Remove the E-ring (A).
  81. Lift the CR Scale Mounting Plate (A), then remove the CR shaft (B).


    Assembly / 組み立て

    When installing the CR Scale Mounting Plate (A), set the shaft (C) of the CR Scale Mounting Plate into the hole (B) of the frame, and fix it with the E-ring.
  82. Pull out the CR shaft (A) from the printer, them remove the CR Unit (with CR Shaft) (B).
  83. Remove the Protection Sheet (A).
  84. Remove the CR Unit Porous Pad (A).
