ADF Sensor/reflector
The ADF Unit is provided with optical sensors (including reflection-type sensors) for document size, register and PE Sensors, for example.
If the optical sensors, reflection-type sensors and light receivers get dirty with paper dust or other materials, the light intensity drops and causes false paper detection.
*Reflection-type sensors consist of a sensor itself on the light emission and light receiving sides and a reflector that reflects the light from the emitter toward the receiver.
Visually check the sensors. If they are not clean, clean them using a moistened cloth after water has been wrung out of the cloth.

Before cleaning PE Sensor 1 (A), remove the part (Paper Guide, PF Roller 1) enclosed by a red frame in the figure below from the left and right dowels (C).
