C1 LFT PID lock error (error code: 000164)

Cause
  • The load when the hopper moves up is unexpectedly high

  • State in which load of motor exceeds expected load, and motor does not rotate at all

Suspected cause
  • Paper incorrectly loaded or number of sheets loaded exceeds maximum
  • Foreign object in paper cassette
  • Paper cassette failure
  • Gear trains for lifting cassette are damaged or have foreign objects.
  • Lift Phase Sensor failure
  • Lift motor failure
  • Main Board Assy failure
Troubleshooting
Step Check and measure Yes No

Check the paper cassette
Is the cassette free from foreign objects? Is the stack of paper loaded in the cassette within the limited capacity? Furthermore, is the paper loaded correctly?

 Go to step 2

Reduce the number of sheets of paper loaded.
or
Remove the foreign object.
2 Check the paper cassette
Does the cassette operate normally? Does the cassette hopper mechanism operate normally?		 Go to step 3

Replace the paper cassette.
3 Check the lift gear train parts
Check that there is no damage to or foreign object on the ASF gear train parts.		 If the error occurred, replace the Main Board Assy.
(If the problem persists, contact Epson local service representatives)		 Remove the foreign object.
or
Replace the lift motor assembly.
